This original-generation M&P9 features a 4.25-inch barrel, full-size polymer frame, stainless-steel slide and barrel, and a 17+1 standard capacity. One of the notable design elements of the original M&P series is its rigid stainless-steel chassis reinforcement within the polymer frame, combining the weight savings of polymer construction with additional internal rigidity. Ergonomics were also an important part of the M&P design. The pistol uses interchangeable palmswell grip inserts, allowing the grip dimensions to be adjusted for different hand sizes and shooting preferences.
